Meet Jeanette

Jeanette Hightower is a professional violinist, session musician, instructor, and string arranger based in Birmingham, Alabama. Throughout her music career, she has had the privilege of playing in various ensembles, which further shaped her love for collaboration. She was a member of the Mobile Youth Symphony Orchestra for five years and was honored to be selected for the Alabama All-State Orchestra in both junior and senior years of high school. She continued her studies at Samford University, where she played in the Samford Orchestra all four years and studied violin under Jeffery Flaniken at the Samford School of Arts. Her classical training, combined with a love for modern twists and creative expression, has shaped her unique approach to both playing and composing music.

With 30 years of playing experience and 15 years of recording experience, Jeanette has had the opportunity to share her music with others in a variety of ways. A classically trained violinist, she also excels across a wide range of genres, including jazz, fiddle/bluegrass, rock, and pop. With experience recording alongside Grammy-winning engineers, Jeanette has made television and film appearances, contributing to projects that include Grey’s Anatomy and two documentaries for the American retailer Patagonia. She is passionate about writing custom song arrangements and enjoys performing in local productions such as musicals, as well as playing for events such as weddings and church services.

As an instructor, Jeanette maintains a full studio teaching students of all ages and skill levels creating personalized lessons tailored to each individuals’ goals. Whether working with children or adults, she is dedicated to helping her students develop their unique musical voice. She has taught violin for over 15 years, guiding students through the Suzuki method, while customizing lessons to each student’s interests to keep them engaged. She believes learning music should be fun and personal, so she strives to help students connect with music they love while developing their technical skills.

“Creativity is a fundamental aspect of being human. It’s our birthright.”
